Embrace the Camera: January 27

I'm cheating today.  This post really isn't about Daddy, but he's in one of the pictures.
But look at baby girl walking!  I still can't classify her as a full time walker, but we're making major progress.  She'll finally walk on surfaces other than our shag area rug.  I have hopes she'll be a full time walker before she's 18 months (4 weeks away).  This girl sure does things in her own time.

Well, Hello!

I guess I took an unexpected blogging break.  Been busy, I guess.  And not enough time to take and edit pictures to share.  I forgot to mention that I made a new blog header a couple weeks ago.

So, Peyton usually looks like this by the end of dinner time resulting in a mandatory bath pretty much every single night.
What a mess!

Hi cute little girl!

She loves him.

Hunter has always been really good with her, but she's finally getting to an age where they can actually play together.  Cute story.  The other day I heard the kids in another room and could tell that Peyton had walked a few steps on her own.  Hunter came running in to where I was and said, "Mommy, Peyton walked!  I'm so proud of her!".  Ah, I melt.  Such a sweet boy.

Embrace the Camera: January 20

This week snuck up on me.  I didn't make it a point to take any pictures, but I do have two to share.  Two moments that I want to make sure are documented.

Please tell me he'll always want to hold my hand.

Silly Boy

Hunter is definitely entering that phase where he just acts silly all the time.  He has no interest in letting me take his picture, but if I let him act silly he'll usually oblige.  So, here we have Hunter and the stick.

Repurposing

I read lots of sewing/crafty blogs.  They're always taking some piece of clothing and making it something else.  And of course it's always really cute.

I knew I somehow wanted to extend the life of this jumper.  It's from GAP's {red} line.  It was a gift when Hunter was little.  He wore it and Peyton's worn it, too.

Going to attempt to turn this into a dress

I came across this tutorial for a ruffled dress and decided this was how I could extend the life of this outfit.  I think it turned out pretty cute.  I'm not really sure I want to do it again anytime soon, ha!  I need some tips on sewing with knit fabric.

Some days....

Some days (most days) I feel like I'm trying to keep up with so many things.
IMG_4258Edit

Some days it all doesn't get done.  Some days I drop the ball.
IMG_4259Edit

But I just keep going, crossing things off this list.  If it doesn't get done today, it'll get done tomorrow.
Apparently, this whole multitasking thing starts at a young age :o)

Friday Randomness

It's Friday!  Are you this excited?!

Lose something?

Hunter was the "Fruit of the Week" at school.  In his words, "I showed peace".
11/365 Fruit of the Spirit (peace) this week!

This week I started transitioning Peyton from 2 naps to 1.  It's torture, pure torture.  She wants to nap at like noon which I don't like.  She's needs to hang until at least 1.  And then she's only taking a short nap. NOT OKAY.  Do you hear that Peyton?  It's not okay!  I'm hoping this is just all part of the transition and she'll settle in to napping a solid 2-3 hours like most kids.  My biggest problem is keeping her from falling asleep in the car because she does not transfer from car to bed without waking.  Totally sucks!  Hunter was not that way.  And in case you were wondering, she still won't walk.  Well, she can.  She can walk across the living room on the carpet, but ask her to do on a hard surface and she refuses to even try. Stinker.
Fell asleep in the car while I was unloading groceries

I hit the big Target toy clearance sale today.  75% off clearanced toys.  We're stocked up for birthday party gifts for the year and possibly even a couple Christmas presents!  I paid $65 for all the stuff below. I think there are 13 items in there... and one of them was $20 alone.  That's a lot of other cheap toys.
All this for $65 at Target - 75% off clearanced toys started this morning!

Enjoy your weekend!  We're starting ours with a big photo shoot Saturday morning.  9 adults and 8 kids.  I hope the photographer is prepared for all of us!

Embrace the Camera: January 13

I don't know how it's Thursday already, but it is!

We went to Dinosaur World over the weekend.  The Other Grandma joined us, too.
I got the tickets on Groupon so it was super cheap for a weekend activity.
To be honest, it was alright.  I mean, the dinosaurs were big and all, but they didn't move or anything.
Hunter had fun and I think it's fun for his age, but probably not for kids too much older.

Sewing For Me

Other than orders and gifts for Christmas I have managed to sew a few things for me....or Peyton :o)

I made this Pleated Knit Scarf one afternoon.  Really easy.  This material was a little heavy, but I already had it so I used it.  Next time I'll get something a bit thinner.

I'm obsessed with these Circle Skirts.  I want to make one for myself!  And I will.....eventually.

Photo Challenges

So, this is the year I get my feet wet in regards to photography.  Attempting to step out of my comfort zone a bit.  I've got a couple of projects started to keep me going through 2011 and hopefully projects that will help me learn and grow.

The first one is a Project 365.  Basically, you have a photo to represent each day of 2011.  I'm doing this via my camera phone.  It's always with me so I think I can accomplish not missing a day.  So far I haven't.  I've set no rules so I can take pictures of whatever I want, kids or not.  Here are a few from the last 10 days.

The next one is a Project 52.  Same idea, but one picture to represent each week of 2011.  This one I'll do with my camera and will be a little more serious about.  I'm hoping it'll keep me shooting all year long.  I'm doing this one with My 3 Boybarians Blog.  We post our weekly pictures in her Flickr group for everyone to see.  It's fun to get feedback on your photos, whether it be good or bad.

Here's my Week 1 photo - Peyton's sweet, dirty little hands
P52 - Week 1

Wish me luck!  I hope I can keep it up.
