So, I'm about to get real here on this 'ole blog. I pretty much share our life through pictures and some cute stories, nothing too heavy. I've thought a lot about whether to share this or not and I've decided that I will.
Life is precious and if we didn't know that before we surely do know it now. This is going to sound heavy when I say it, but it's not as bad as it's going to sound. My mom has breast cancer. There, I said it. Tomorrow she will have a lumpectomy on the cancer spot, there's just one. The doctor has complete confidence that he'll get it all. She'll then have 5 weeks of radiation. We're thankful for no chemo. So, the prognosis is better than good. It's just having to go through the surgery and radiation on top of everything else she has on her plate. And if you know my family you know it's a lot. We'll be going to be with her tonight through the weekend to help in every way we can. I know she'll be fine. Any prayers or good thoughts will be totally appreciated.
We took this picture over Thanksgiving. We were able to get all three of mom's girls and all 5 grandkids together at one time. We're lucky if that happens once a year!

Ugh. Cancer stinks. I'll keep your mom in my thoughts and prayers for a speedy healing process. And, congrats on the awesome family photo. How special is that!?
I will be thinking about your family. Cancer is such a tough thing to go through.......my mom had breast cancer over 10 years ago (she was only in her early 40's) and she is doing fine!!!!! Keep your head up.
I've been thinking of you and your family, Dena. Cancer sucks, and even though we have all experienced it close to home in some way, it never fails to hit us hard when we're affected again. You're all in my thoughts, and I'm sending lots of love and more strength and positive thoughts (I love that you all have so much of both!) your way.
Great picture!! I will definitely be praying for your family!!! Your mom is a strong woman and will get through this especially with all of her family support!!
My girlfriend is on the board for Susan G Komen for central Florida if you want to volunteer sometime or with me. I volunteer at the race every October!
Gosh, Dec. 2 snuck up on me. I had the date on my calendar. I am sure that everything will go fine. Your mom and the entire family are in my thoughts and prayers. Please keep us posted and let us know if there is anything you need. Much love, Kristin
