Peyton loves this book and has memorized a lot of it.  I had to video us reading the whole thing.  She knew the video camera was on as you'll be able to tell when you see her staring into the camera.

Last of Summer Hurrah

The kids and I spent a couple nights in Ormond Beach the week before school started.  We invited along the Ewaskos.  We packed in as much fun as we could for the kids.  These stinkers better remember what awesome moms we are.  At least I have this blog and all the pictures to remind them later in life!

My mom was even able to get away for the day and enjoy the beach with us for a couple of hours.  Maya and her daddy came to see us, too.  Double bonus!

First Day of First Grade

Another year of school is underway.  Hunter was a little nervous and I finally got out of him why.  Somehow he's got it in his head that teachers are now mean and school is hard.  We reassured him that his teacher wasn't going to be mean for no reason and that school will be harder, but it will still be fun.  He came home from school and had a good day.  He actually talked quite a bit about things the teacher said and behavior incentives she has in place.  He was ready to go this morning on Day 2 :)

Oh, hi skinny Heath.  He's dropped nearly 35 pounds in the last 3 months.  We're all so proud of him!

What a difference a year makes!  So much maturity in that face.  Look how pointy his chin is now.

They have big individual desks this year instead of group tables.

His teacher is a sweet lady :)

His buddy, Leo is in his class along with many others he knows from preschool and his Kindergarten class.  Robyn and I will be a super duo team as Room Moms!

Beach Week 2013 AKA Pukation

Beach week started out great... fun in the sun with friends.

Tired kids at the end of the day....

A little Wii in the mornings...

Then the stomach bug hit.  It started with the littlest one on Day 2, another kid got it Day 3, the other 3 kids got it at the end of Day 3, then 2 adults got it closer to Day 4.  It was a lovely 12 hour bug that made most of the kids puke their guts out.  Day 4 was a recovery day and we all finally enjoyed the beach together on the last day we'd all be together.  We named our vacation "Pukation".  Definitely a first... and hopefully a last!

Ok, enough of the puke talk and back to the beach pictures...

Hunter learned how to lift the nose of his boogie board so he was catching some much bigger waves this time.

Heath would take Peyton out deep to jump "big fat juicy waves" as she would call them.

We got Hunter his first official surfboard.  He agreed to use some piggy bank money to pay for half of it.  It's a foam board and really light so it took a few tries for him to get the hang of it, but he did.
