Crib Assembly 101

Hunter helped Daddy put Petyon's crib together last week.  He loves to help.  He's sure to inherit the handyman genes.

Memorial Day Weekend

We spent the long weekend at the beach house in New Smyrna with some friends from Jacksonville and their 2 kids.  The rain almost ruined the weekend, but we made the best of it until the sun came out.

Daddy set this up while it rained off and on.
We took the kids bowling.  The first time for either one of them.  That was a good rainy morning time waster.  After naps Saturday the sun came out and didn't disappear again!

It's funny, these 2 are less than 4 months apart.  She's really tall and Hunter's pretty small.
Hunter did lots of wave jumping
I have a bunch of other pictures so I'll share those in the days to come.

Nursery Progress

Every evening last week Heath spent getting the nursery ready to lay hardwoods. He painted the room, ripped out the carpet, baseboards, and window sill.  Saturday morning he and Paul put the hardwoods in.  They've gotten really efficient as a two man team.  It took them just three hours to finish the room.  Now that this room is finished our house is all tile and hardwood.  No more carpet.

Ok, last swim video

Today was the final day and he chose today to do the least amount of crying.  We went swimming tonight and he's all of a sudden turned into a fish with no fear!

Swim Lessons - 2nd and Final Week

Tomorrow is Hunter's last day of swim lessons.  Since he's had these lessons before they call this a refresher course and it only takes a couple of weeks.  He has no idea how lucky he is this year.  Last year it was 5 weeks of lessons every day.

Today he had his final test and had to swim in winter clothes.  Shirt, sweatshirt, pants, socks, shoes, and a real diaper.  He did really well and cried the least of any day thus far.  He definitely has a mind of his own.  If he can see Julie or the wall in his sight then he is determined to make it there even when he should be stopping to float.  The second she goes behind him and out of his sight he will resort to floating.  You'll see that at the end of the video.

Hello Belly Button!

It's already started and the baby isn't even here yet.  I'm slacking on the picture documentation. Here are some 24 week pictures.  Hunter wanted to be part of these which was so cute.  I think he's sort of getting that there is a baby coming now that we have picked up her bed and are working on her room.  If I ask him whose room hers is he will say Peyton.

D-R-A-M-A

Today was Day 4 of Safe Start swim lessons and I decided to take some video.  (Read this before you play the video, please.) This is Hunter's 3rd year of this style swim lessons.  Safe Start teaches kids as young as 6 months to roll over and float or find the wall if they were to fall in.

He's never liked the lessons (which you will see), but he's also never been afraid of the water. These lessons do not scare him into being afraid of the pool.  I bet a lot of people think that.  I chose this type of lesson because we have a pool and I want him to be able to save himself if he were to fall in.  This year is no different.  He puts up quite a fuss and everyone around knows he's not happy.  We get lots of stares and I know people are thinking he's being tortured, but it's all for show.  If you chose to watch the video you'll see him crying through the whole lesson, but doing exactly what he's supposed to be doing as far as swimming goes.  Then at the end he turns off the tears when he knows the lesson is over.  And there is no whimpering or catching his breath from all the crying.  He's literally just really mad.  I'm convinced, it's all about control right now.  He wants to do what he wants to do when he wants to do it.

Girls Weekend

Despite everyone's busy summer schedules I was able to get a few Orlando girlfriends (all moms of 1 or 2 young kids) together for a girls weekend at my father-in-law's beach house in New Smyrna.  A BIG thank you to our husbands who didn't bat an eye at keeping the kids for 2 nights!!  We left Friday evening and came home Sunday late afternoon.  We had big plans to stay up late, sleep in, and live it up all weekend, but that just didn't happen.  We stayed up late one night, but just sitting in our pajamas, eating cookies and gabbing.  It was just what we all needed!  Maybe we can make it an annual thing :o)

This was our view for 7 straight hours on Saturday.  The weather couldn't have been more perfect.
I embroidered beach bags for all the girls.  Here they are showing them off.
